The Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies (IEE, in Portuguese) is a non-profit civil association or party-political commitments, founded in Porto Alegre, in 1984, by 20 members. The Institute aims to encourage and prepare new leaderships, based on the concepts of market economy and free initiative. One of the main attributions of IEE is the formation of leaders with entrepreneurial capacity. In this sense, it stimulates debate and the exchange of experiences among its members, so that they perform their functions in society in an ethical and planned manner, with persistence and motivation to achieve success in their areas of activity.
With 30 years of existence, IEE was recognized for its work in training business leaders and in promoting the culture of freedom. In 2007 the Institute received the Templeton Freedom Award Grant as one of the most promising global institutions for the defense of freedom. In 2013, it was recognized by Forbes magazine as the Think Tank that holds the largest event of discussion of ideas in Latin America, the Fórum da Liberdade. It has also been ranked as one of the 150 organizations that most influences the political, social and economic transformations of the world in the 2013 ranking of Global Go to Think Tanks, organized by the University of Pennsylvania.
In December of 2014, commemorating the three decades of foundation, the IEE released a book telling a little of its history. The book “IEE 30 years forming leaders” gathered articles written by all the former presidents of the Institute.
